If someone were to ask me about my little piece of heaven, that place where no matter what is happening, everything falls away, life is still and one can just live in the moment? Mine will definately be in nature.
Those that know me know that I love saying “when in doubt, go to nature” because that is what I literally do. When I am stressed or feeling overwhelmed, apart from praying, I go out for a walk, or sit in a park just to clear my head before getting back at it. Nature has this very calming effect on me. I recently found out that Serotonin, the hormone that stabilised our moods, can be obtained from exercise, sunshine and nature! No wonder an outside workout, in nature, feels even better than the gym.
So needless to say am an avid seeker of places where my mind will chill. Be it on the top of Mount Saleve a.k.a Geneva’s balcony, or breakfast outside one of the hotels in Livingstone, Zambia, with the sounds of the Victoria Falls in the background and your immediate view is Zebras munching on the perfectly manicured lawn. Like I said, am always on the look out for amazing places that show off God’s majesty that I can either visit in person or in my imagination should I need to. It’s even better when these places are back home.
And so it is no surprise that the sandy beaches of Lake Malawi are a favorite go to spot both in person and in my imagination. Lake Malawi’s beauty is just indescribable- well, at least for me. Am not an eloquent writer and my attempt to describe it wouldn’t come close to doing it justice. I will just say this though; I will wake up early to experice the sunrise on the lake even though I am not a morning person. It is a sight dreams are made of. Let men just show you some pictures my brother sent recently as he and his family spent some days at Njaya Lodge in Nkhatabay.

See what I mean? After he sent that, I immediately asked him where he was. He said they had decided to chase the clean waters and go up north to experience the lake.

“Where are you.?” I asked. “Take me with you you,” I added while including all the wishful thinking emojis I could find in my text back. Then he sends this⬇️ with the caption: “We are at Njaya Lodge and all the rooms have some version if this view.”

I was in awe. I am still in awe. I mean, just look at what they got to wake up to. Imagine starting your morning with that view! Yep, like I said, stuff dreams are made of.

“How much do they charge? I asked, trying to figure out if we can plan or afford a night or two with the family during our next visit.
“It’s quite affordable,” he told me. Your room with basic amenities is MK25000. For that you get to wake up to the view, swim in those clear waters and breakfast is included,” he added.

“Wow. We could make use of the day beds and the kids can build sand castles all day. Plus the water is so clean and clear we can actually swim in the lake. Am pretty sure for an additional price one can get a swimming instructor, ” I thought.

My husband is from the Bay. I immediately asked him and one of his cousins how they have not taken us there? His cousin reminded us about just how busy we are when we get home that there is hardly time. He made me promise to make the time next time. I intend to keep that promise.
So ladies and gentlemen I have found my next holiday destination God willing.
