A shout out to Zawadi Mode

It all started when I ordered an Africa ring from Zawadi Mode!!! If you follow my Instagram (@pieces.ofhome) stories you know I had been eying an Africa ring from Zawadi Mode for a while. I pinned for this ring while talking about how the lady behind Zawadi Mode is actually Malawian.  I love the concept behind Zawadi Mode: statement gifts from Africa. That right there caught my attention. I love and admire the phenomenon force of a lady behind it,  Elenor Thandikile Khonje. She is a thinker, a strategist, motivational speaker, and a whole lot more.

Back to Zawadi Mode and that shout out. A couple of months ago I finally managed to order it.  I was so excited. I could not wait to wear it. Let me explain how much of a big deal this is.  I rarely wear rings other than my wedding ring so the fact that this Africa ring was going to be getting some real estate on my hand is a huge deal.

I got the sms alerts that said it has shipped. Knowing that they are in the same country am in I was like ok, just two to three days I should have it. Two days passed. Nothing. I didn’t worry  much even though I have had a bad online experience ordering hair products during the lock down where I had literally given up on getting the merchandize. Buts that a story for another day.

Some days later, I received  a message on Whatsapp asking me to confirm by email if I had received my parcel. They explained that they did not have my email hence the whatsapp message. I informed them I had not received it yet but had received the notification that it had been sent.

What followed was an apology for the delay, an explanation of the cause of the delay, and then an offer to refund or choose another product in their catalogue as the  ring I had ordered was out of stock. I wanted the ring so bad I asked when they will be getting new stock. They told me a couple of weeks. I was willing to wait.

The reason behind the delay was they had tried to use a new delivery service and these people marked things as delivered without actually delivering them. I felt bad for them because thats a loss of stock on their side. They said they will get intouch once they have the ring again. They added that in the meantime, if the other ring and whatever gifts it comes with do magically arrive, I should just keep them. Bear in mind that all these responses came promptly. I was never left to wonder if I would be responded to or not.

Sounded too good to be true? I assure you it happened. So a couple of weeks later they got intouch, THE RING was finally here. We confirmed my address and next day it was delivered. Wait, I still have to show you what was actually delivered.

Here is the ring I ordered:

Zawadi Mode Africa Ring:

Here is what was delivered:

Notice there are 2 Africa rings and bangles☝🏾☝🏾

The gifting is top notch and they got me to a T. Just look at how the fro and the other Africa ring look together?

I will gift the bangles to someone who will enjoy them as much as I  love these two rings. Thank you so much Zawadi mode, not just for the beautiful products and the gifts but for one of the best customer service experiences I have had from online shopping.

Happy new year everyone!!!! May your 2022 be filled with great customer service stories like these.
